Using This Site

NSUU.org was built with WordPress.com, a free, easy-to-use blogging platform and content-management system that makes it simple to update and maintain the site. Without getting too bogged down in technical arcana, here are a few things you might find useful as you navigate your way around our site.

RSS feeds. RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication,” and it’s a way of being notified about new content without actually having to visit the website from which it’s coming. NSUU.org has two RSS feeds, one for blog posts and another for comments to posts. You’ll find them in the upper left, right below the bell in our header. This may strike you as overkill, but we have no way of turning this feature off. In any case, you may want to give it a try. Google Reader is a free RSS aggregator that provides excellent results. Also, all of our blog posts are automatically sent to our Twitter feed.

Comments. NSUU.org is an informational site, and we don’t see any particular need for users to post comments. However, the feature is there, and you should feel free to use it. It’s possible that comments will become an integral part of our site at some point in the future. If you are looking for an interactive, online community, please join our Facebook group.

Contact. The editor of NSUU.org is Dan Kennedy, a member of the church. Feel free to send him an e-mail at dkennedy56@gmail.com with questions, comments, and suggestions.

Credits. The photo of the church bell used in our header was taken by Peter VanDeBogert. The photo of the meeting room just below “About NSUU” was taken by Barbara Kennedy. Other photos were taken by Barbara Kennedy and Dan Kennedy, or were borrowed from the church archives. The photo of the Reverend Frieda Gillespie standing before a microphone is courtesy of Rev. Gillespie.
