KR Glickman will deliver a talk in American Sign Language (with voice interpretation) this Sunday, July 20, during the 10:30 a.m. service, on “How Do You Answer the Telephone? How Technology Helps the Deaf.” She will share how technology has helped and hindered deaf people.
When the telephone was invented, communication became instantaneous for hearing folks. No so for the deaf, who were left out of the loop. Then the TTY was invented by a deaf man so Deafies could use the phone. Come learn about all the rest.
KR Glickman was born deaf. Her parents are both hearing. KR has a two brothers, one deaf, one hearing. She has one hearing husband. KR attended Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, and graduated from Gallaudet University, the only liberal-arts college in the world for just deaf undergraduate students.
KR loves to garden, go to lavender festivals, host the Corn Party, walk her hearing dog, Shana, and learn about her laptop.
