A new beginning

The Northshore UU Church begins the 2008-’09 church year this Sunday, September 7, with a new settled minister and a new director of religious education. Our service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a coffee hour at 11:30 or shortly thereafter.

The service will mark the first conducted by the Rev. Frieda Gillespie since she was called to our church this past May. Frieda will facilitate our annual Water Service, at which church members and guests bring water from their summer travels, talk about its meaning, and add it to our communal waters. And if you don’t bring any, you can use some that we’ll have available for symbolic purposes.

Frieda’s sermon topic will be “Gathered Here in One Strong Body,” which will provide us with an opportunity to explore a vision of what this is and could be. Bring your sense of longing for or satisfaction with Northshore UU and all it has to offer.

Sunday will also be the first day of our Religious Education Program for 2008-’09. We offer programs for kids from nursery school to high school. Our new director of religious education, Fred Mills, is deeply experienced in helping children and families learn about Unitarian Universalism.

We hope you will join us this Sunday. Guests are always welcome.
