Adults and children are invited to a blessing ceremony for any and all animals brought to our service on Sunday, September 28, at 10:30 a.m. This is our first “blessing of the animals” event, and it will be conducted by our minister, the Rev. Frieda Gillespie.
“All manner of creatures are welcome that can be under your control,” says Rev. Gillespie. “We will reflect on what our fellow animals teach us about ourselves as we celebrate the love we have for our pets.”
Following Rev. Gillespie’s sermon on the meaning of pets in our lives, animals can be brought to the altar, one by one, to be blessed with water. “Just about any kind of animal is welcome, except for probably a horse,” she says.
Frieda is quite an animal-lover herself, as she lives with a menagerie of two mixed-breed dogs, four cats, one guinea pig, and two rats.
Visitors are always welcome at our services, which are followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:45 a.m.
