Assuming the weather cooperates, please join us this Sunday, December 21, for two special holiday services.
At 10:30 a.m., we will hold our annual Sock and Sneaker Service, at which members and friends will donate new socks and sneakers, and especially new outerwear (hats, coats, boots, and gloves) for both children and parents. The clothing will be given to the Inn-Between Shelter in Peabody.
The sermon, by the Reverend Frieda Gillespie, our minister, is titled “But Wait! There’s More …” “The Hanukkah story tells of a miracle in the midst of devastation,” says Frieda. “Does that miracle exist within us as well?”
The service will be followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:45. Visitors are always welcome.
Weather permitting, we will reconvene at 6:30 p.m. for our annual Winter Solstice Service. Come celebrate and contemplate the sun’s return with a bonfire and ancient rituals, music, poetry reading, and a children’s presentation. Mulled cider and cookies complete the evening.
This is always a special event, and we invite the public to help us celebrate.
