Cakes for the Queen of Heaven

cakes4web2Please join us in an experience that may mark an important point in your womanhood. Cakes for the Queen of Heaven is a program that will explore the ancient roots of civilization, when the divine was seen as female. We will investigate the influence of mainstream religions on our position in society and examine the emergence of the women’s spirituality movement.

The program will be held in the church library on the following dates:

  • Friday, April 17, from 6 to 10 p.m. Dinner will be provided by Cakes X from the North Parish UU Church in North Andover.
  • Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be an optional continental breakfast from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided by Cakes X.
  • Beginning Wednesday, April 22, we will meet on six consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Other dates are April 29 and May 6, 13, 20, and 27.

A donation of $25 is requested to cover the cost of meals at the weekend sessions and miscellaneous expenses. Please make your check payable to the Northshore UU Church and submit it to Gail Bernard when you RSVP.

We would like to emphasize the importance of commitment to the group. In order to work well together, we need to maintain a cohesiveness that can only be achieved through regular attendance. The group is of a private and thoughtful nature, so children would be a distraction. Above all, it is a group based on mutual respect, confidentiality, and personal and spiritual growth.

We may choose to continue meeting after our formal classes have ended for continued reflection, learning, and ongoing friendship. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies.

Please RSVP by contacting Gail Bernard by e-mail at gailbernard {at} comcast {dot} net. (Just change the {at} and {dot} to form a normal-looking e-mail address.) The group size is limited, so we ask that you respond as soon as possible. Starting this week, we will open up the program to women outside of our church community as space allows.
