Celebrating and understanding Easter

Please join us for our annual Easter service this Sunday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. Our minister, the Reverend Frieda Gillespie, will deliver her sermon on the theme of “What Happened to Paradise?”

In the first millennium of Christianity, Jesus was understood as the shepherd to a fully alive humanity in paradise on this earth. After that, the image of Jesus mutilated and dead on the cross became the focus of the church. This strange new image of holiness shaped views of suffering, violence, and power in the church. Two theologians help us to understand what happened and why.

We will also hold our annual Child Dedication ceremony, a highlight of the church year.

Our service will be followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:30. Child care is available, and visitors are always welcome.
