The art of percussion

Matt Meyer performs at UU gathering in Fort Worth, Texas

Please join us this Sunday, January 24, when our guest will be Matt Meyer, an artist of percussion. Several of our members who have experienced Matt’s talent and skills returned excited, and they encouraged us to invite him to conduct a Sunday service. This should be a very exciting and dynamic morning.

Matt is knowledgeable and experienced in a variety of styles including Latin, jazz, Brazilian, folk, funk, hip-hop, and pop. He is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship about 11:30. Child care and religious-education classes are available, and visitors are always welcome.

Following the service, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Matt will lead a drumming workshop at the church, with lunch being provided just before. Please consider attending — you do not need a drum, since Matt brings many percussion instruments for all to use. If you do have an instrument, bring it along.

We need a count of attendees for planning the lunch, so please contact our music director, Judy Putnam, at judeputnam {at} verizon {dot} net.
