“Local Colors” on display through April

Artist Cheryl Dyment is presenting an exhibit of her landscape oil paintings at the Northshore UU Church through the end of April. The public is invited to an artist’s reception on Sunday, March 21, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the church.

Dyment’s exhibit, “Local Colors,” features oil paintings from work done in her backyard in Middleton, as well as Danvers and throughout Essex County. She delights in finding and painting in spots that are often overlooked and uncelebrated.

Of her landscapes she says, “Like life itself, a painting can be read from many different viewpoints. Providing just the right atmosphere to tell an interesting story is my intent. Making the choice to distill an entire movie into one clip is the challenge.”

The painting “River’s Rhythm,” at left, is currently on display at the Northshore UU Church.
