Food in an ethical context

“Ethical Eating” will be the theme of the Reverend Frieda Gillespie’s sermon at our service this Sunday, March 21. Frieda explains:

Since watching the documentary Food, Inc., I have been determined to understand the ethical, safety, and justice issues related to food production. In our busy lives, doing so can be a daunting process, but there are some simple ways in which we can start to make a difference.

“Share the Plate” this Sunday will support our monthly commitment to Lifebridge, a shelter and meals program for the homeless in Salem.

Our service begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:30. Child care and religious-education classes are offered, and visitors are always welcome.

It’s Silent Auction time!

Following the service, we will hold our annual Silent Auction, a fun event that is a major fundraiser for the church. For a suggested donation of $10, you can enjoy lunch and relax with friends. John Doherty, a nationally known award-winning caricaturist, will draw you and your family for a donation, and a wide variety of goods and services will be available during the auction itself. We hope you will join us.
