In need of a girls’ weekend or girls’ night out? Then we have just the thing for you. Join us for Cakes for the Queen of Heaven III.
Cakes is a woman-honoring UU adult RE curriculum by the Reverend Shirley Ranck. This curriculum examines important elements of today’s women’s lives — personal, interpersonal, and societal. Through various topics and fun activities, we will examine ancient cultures that worshiped the divine feminine and how Judeo-Christian values have influenced our beliefs and culture.
The concepts of equality and reverence for the female in a religious setting are eye-opening to many participants. How would your life have been different if, when growing up, the divine had been imaged as female? Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences and beliefs, creating trust and long-lasting, strong bonds of friendship.
Our next Cakes session will run on the following dates and times:
- Friday, October 1, from 6 to 10 p.m. Be pampered with a delicious dinner prepared and served by NSUU Cakes II, followed by our first night’s topics and activities.
- Saturday, October 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Optional continental breakfast starting at 8:30 followed by a fun-filled day. More pampering with lunch prepared and served by Cakes XIII from North Parish UU in North Andover (co-facilitator Gail Bernard’s first Cakes group).
- Then, the following Tuesday nights: October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2, 9 (and possibly the 16th) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Your time will be well spent and enjoyed. A brief Cakes informational meeting will be held after our regular church service on Sunday, September 26, where you can ask questions. In the meantime, please contact Gail Bernard at email@example.com or Amy Steeves at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Handouts and a sign-up sheet can be found in the Fellowship Hall. We need a minimum of 5 people committed to run the program. We hope you can join us! Blessed be.
