Two groups from Marblehead High School will sing at the Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church in Danvers this Friday, January 21. This is the fourth concert in the Music in the Woods series, and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10.
Luminescence is the school’s original female a cappella group. Founded in 2005, the Lumi ladies have taken top honors in the Las Vegas A Cappella Summit and the National Championship of High School A Cappella. Their 2008 album nonpareil earned them three Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards and a spot on the Best of High School A Cappella compilation. Their second album will be released in the spring. The Grizzly Freakin’ Man Singers are a student-managed and -directed a cappella group from Marblehead High. Rather than playing sports, these teenage males have decided to channel their testosterone into the creation of glorious noise. Since their formation in 2008, the Grizzlies’ explosive energy and dashing good looks have continued to entertain audiences and make the ladies swoon.
