This Sunday’s service: “Sacred Democracy”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our church’s first minister, the Reverend Charles Wilson, will be with us this Sunday, February 27, speaking on the subject of “Sacred Democracy.” Belief in the democratic process is inscribed in the fifth of the Unitarian Universalist Association’s principles: “The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and society at large.”

We will take a look at some American sources of that belief (including Whitman and Emerson), and raise a few cautionary points. Peter VanDeBogert will help conduct the service.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed at 11:30 by coffee and fellowship, and then by our new, multi-generational Religious Education Program, which will be held from 11:45 to 12:30. Visitors are always welcome.
