This Sunday’s service: “History of Humor”

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello

“Why didn’t Noah swat those two mosquitoes?”

This  Sunday’s service, led by church members Peter VanDeBogert and Beth Blanchard, will make you laugh. It will cover political  humor, including a guest appearance by Sarah Palin, and cultural humor, including a tribute to Abbott  & Costello. We will also look at the humor generated for and about children. The following words are found on a bumper sticker: “I can handle anything. I have children.”

We will include the usual “cares and celebrations” and an opportunity to share funny stories from your own life. The meditation will explore all the ways that humor benefits our health and well-being.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:30. Visitors are always welcome. This is part of our series of lay-led summer services. Regular services and our Religious Education Program will resume on September 11.
