The holiday season is upon us. Please join us for three special events as we prepare to celebrate the Solstice and Christmas.
On Sunday, December 23, we will hold our annual Winter Solstice service. Please note that the service will be held at 4:30 p.m., and that we will not offer a morning service. We hope this time of day works well for families and children. The service includes an outdoor procession with candlelight, drumming, the lighting of the Yule Log, readings, songs and sharing, and of course hot cider and cookies.
On Monday, December 24, our Christmas Eve service — “The Blessings of the Child” — will get under way at 6 p.m. Please join the Reverend Frieda Gillespie and our congregation for this special evening. In song and story we will celebrate the story of the child who lights the heart and soul and renews our lives. Bring the whole family and share in the candle lighting to “Silent Night.”
Finally, on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, the annual Christmas Dinner with Friends will be held in the church meeting room from noon to 3 p.m. Dinner will be served at 1. This longstanding Northshore UU Church tradition is sponsored by the Danvers Clergy Association and Temple Beth Shalom in Peabody. It features Christmas dinner with all the fixings, festive decorations, live music, and carol singing. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event. To request a ride to and from the dinner, call and leave a message for the church administrator at (978) 774-7582.
Visitors are always welcome.
