A cappella groups from three local high schools will perform on Friday, February 8, from 7:30 until 9 p.m. at the Northshore UU Church. Tickets are $10 for ages 13 and older. The groups come from Danvers High School, St. John’s Prep, and Hamilton-Wenham High School.
The Danvers High Chamber Singers is an honors-level group whose members sing everything from Renaissance madrigals to today’s a cappella hits. The singers are also involved in community service activities.
Swingtown! is St. John Prep’s a cappella group featuring students and faculty. The dynamic vocal band sings everything from a cappella standards, through oldies and rock, to modern tunes that are on your iPod. Several concerts are held during the year.
Kings of the Beach is a co-ed a cappella group that has been making music at Hamilton-Wenham for many years. The Kings create their own unique style of pop, blues and jazz using their voices to imitate instruments and to create harmonies. Members of the Kings of the Beach are united by their love of music and singing together as well as their very serious attitude about having fun.
The event is part of the Northshore Church’s Music in the Woods series of monthly concerts.
