As Unitarian Universalists, we are often quick to dismiss the traditionally Christian practice of Lent. Beginning with Ash Wednesday, Lent marks 40 days of introspection and renunciation. As UUs, we embrace many spiritual, philosophical, and scientific paths to Ultimate Truth, including those traditionally used in other faith traditions.
Join our director of religious education, Ashley Murphy, for this reinterpretation of the Lenten model as we explore the teachings of Jesus — deity; inspired being; a moral and kind man. We will read through a new story each Sunday, relating it to our own times and considering its applicability in our own lives.
“The Parables of Jesus” will be held every Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. from February 17 through March 24. This is certain to be a time of learning, self-reflection, and growth for all whom attend.
