The service this Sunday, February 24, will be devoted to the memory of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German Lutheran pastor and theologian who was executed during World War II for his anti-Nazi activities. Titled “Life and Letters of Dietrich Bonhoeffer,” the service will be presented by church members Charles Wilson and Peter VanDeBogert.
A narrator will set the historical scene. You will hear inspiring exchanges of letters between Bonhoeffer and his family and friends from his prison cell in Berlin. Bonhoeffer’s most relevant and moving thoughts on religious faith come from the correspondence in the final weeks of his life. He was executed in April 1945 as a conspirator in plots to assassinate Hitler. We all can learn some insights into living your religion from his teaching and example.
The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:30. Religious education is provided, and visitors are always welcome.
