Danvers artist Dan Murphy is exhibiting his oil paintings of nautical scenes during the months of June and July at the Northshore UU Church.
Murphy is a 1983 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He was employed as a tug boat marine engineer for Boston Tow and Transportation. He studied art under Phil Perkins of Lynnfield and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
“I enjoy many types of arts and crafts from woodcarving to scrimshaw, from fine woodworking to metal sculptures,” says Dan. “However, oil painting remains my favorite medium and with many years on the water nautical scenes are also a favorite.”
An artist’s reception for Murphy will be held at the church this Friday, June 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
