This Sunday’s service: “Transgender Acceptance”

Program on transgender issues at an Episcopal church in Anchorage, Alaska. Speaking is the Reverend Drew Phoenix, a clergy leader of Christians for Equality.

Bring your questions this Sunday, October 20, for a service on “Transgender Acceptance.” A panel of speakers will share their experiences of being transgender or the parent of a transgender child. Has society made progress in accepting transgender people? A lot has changed and yet problems remain.

PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) is bringing several people to speak about their transgender experiences during our service and to answer questions that you might have. Here is a link to resources from the UUA titled “Transgender 101.” We will be handing information from the UUA on Sunday as well.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:30. Religious education classes for children and youth are offered, and visitors are always welcome.
