This Sunday’s service: “Talk to Strangers”

We all know people who strike up conversations with strangers easily. Could we do that too? Would that help to grow the church? The Reverend Frieda Gillespie will address those themes at our service this Sunday, June 8, in a sermon titled “Talk to Strangers.”

Ed Wall will be playing cello and Helen Brandt and Terry Hansen will be singing a classical soprano duet.

The offering will be donated to the UU Mass Action Network. (Click on the video above to learn more.) Since 2006, UU Mass Action has had a history of mobilizing the 140 UU congregations around social justice issues in Massachusetts. Each year, the group’s energy is focused around two or three main issues, which are picked through polling congregations, consulting with activists, and consulting with communities that are largely marginalized by the wider community. This year’s campaigns include immigration, hunger and poverty, and mass incarceration.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by coffee and fellowship at about 11:30. Religious education classes for children and youth are offered most weeks, and visitors are always welcome.
