Social Action
Danvers Food Pantry
NSUU supports the Danvers Food Pantry. Before the outbreak of COVID, the Social Action committee maintained a donation box in our fellowship hall where members could drop off non-perishable food donations. These items were brought to the food pantry monthly. During COVID the Social Action committee set up several Saturdays when people could drive up and drop off food items. Social Action members delivered this food to the Danvers Food Pantry.
As NSUU resumes worship activities, we are again collecting food items in the donation box and through occasional drive-up drop-offs. Each time the staff at the food bank is grateful to receive our food. They tell us that the items especially needed are graham crackers, Wheat Thins, Chunky soup, and spaghetti sauce.
The Food Pantry also maintains a table of knit hats, gloves, and scarves for colder weather. They welcome contributions to this table.
In addition to our support of the food pantry, NSUU maintains a box in Fellowship Hall where congregants can leave donations for our troops. Items collected include snacks, candy, toiletries for both men and women, games, and books.
