Ordained an African Methodist Episcopal minister in the 1880s, Rev. Joseph Fletcher Jordan’s evolving theology led him to a spiritual home in Universalism. In 1903, he became the second black man to serve as a Universalist minister. His faith journey and community commitment offer lessons on flourishing together for Unitarian Universalists today.
